If you want to go where the networking is hot – Twitter is the destination. It’s not just any kind of social networking website, it’s the place where people can go and have a quick chat about anything. That’s an excellent reason why it needs to be protected by spammers and other black hatters. But it’s kind of easy to for marketers to make mistakes that sinks them right at the very beginning. At Twitter you can immediately start working on a good business foundation, even though you won’t see swarms of traffic immediately. Sending out your affiliate link to all your followers is okay, but doing that every now and then will just make them lose trust in you. Twitter users are very much on the look-out for spam, and they will not trust you right away, either. So to get the best out of Twitter, you have to avoid the following mistakes and do your homework before taking any step.
So you’re probably wondering what those awful mistakes are, so let’s get to it.
As you interact with your followers, it would be a mistake to become personal with them. It’s not good business practice to reveal too much about your personal life, and there’s a possibility that they don’t care about it. It’s a matter of time and priorities, they won’t read anything they have no interest in. After a while they won’t care at all about the brand of coffee your’re drinking, or some other personal point. So the thing to do is post good content that may help them in some way. The goal here is to condition them to recognize you and want to know what you have to say. Keep in mind this is a marketing process, and in time people will reply to you and start visiting your site. And be very sure you never deceive anyone with fake or false information in your Twitter profile. Some Twitter marketers like to put their logos on their profiles, that’s not a bad idea but it could come across a little dry and boring to others. Also, many people don’t want to have anything to do with profiles that don’t contain a picture of a real person. Also, even though you want to have accurate information – you might fare better with a pen name of some kind.
Some people also make a mistake of being hesitant or shy to ask questions of their followers. That’s right; you have to be as upfront as possible. You’re using Twitter to ultimately get the most out of your marketing campaigns, make sales and earn money.
A list involves a healthy relationship in which you give them good and useful content that provides value to them, so it’s totally fine to send offers to them, as well. Before you include offers in your tweets, just give it careful thinking so you’re on top of what you’re doing. So just realize that if you’ve done your part the right way, then it’s a green light for an occasional promotional tweet.
A lot of people do it backwards; the right way is to build up some good content, then set out to get followers.
Not many Twitterers would want to follow you when you just start out without any relevant content posted. You’ll have to spend time building your list of followers, so you’ll also need to be patient with it. One approach is to retweet content from experts in your market. Keep this in mind – simply make replies to those who have retweeted information or those who are experts, and that will gain you some exposure.
In short, if you want your followers to trust you give them a reason and tell them you’re someone who’s just trying to help. Show real concern for people and don’t spend all your time on Twitter trying to sell or promote.
Do you know what’s holding you back? Here’s an easy exercise to find out your limiting beliefs. First, write down things you want, these can be in the form of “I want to be …”, “I want to have…” or “I want to do…” where do can be any verb you desire. Use each form at least once; you’ll want to have several of these. Leave hefty space between them. Come on! Write them down first before you read any further.
OK, so are you with me with your notes? Good. Now read each one to yourself, and when you come to the end of the sentence say “but” and write down the first thing that pops into your mind. It doesn’t have to be something logical or a good reason, forget the qualifiers for excuses; nobody is looking over your shoulder.
If you did this properly, you should have something like this:
“I want to be rich”, or
“I want to loose weight”
and, it becomes:
“I want to be rich but I don’t know how to make money”
“I want to loose weight but I can’t control my urge to stuff myself with food”
So we’ve fished out the limiting beliefs:
- I don’t know how to make money
- I can’t control my urge to stuff myself with food
Most of the time, you’ll come up beliefs that are just beating on you. Stop it! Take control! Only you decide what your thoughts and beliefs are. Take these beliefs and change them into empowering beliefs. Believe in yourself, the more you do, the less you’ll have limiting chit chat in your head. The first step in personal development is finding out what’s holding you back. Then we’ll talk about how to change these negative beliefs with empowering ones in another post.
Until then, take care and be your best,
Keir

In the last few years, Twitter has come to be one of the leading social media sites used by marketers. It’s being used by online businesses to get more prospects by connecting with people in their niches. We will now discuss some useful techniques that will help you get the most out of your Twitter marketing efforts.
The most important task to begin with is to meet people on Twitter who are part of your target market and talk to them. It isn’t just about promoting products but you also need to ask questions and have a conversation. Answer questions, respond to polls and make interesting comments. Become a valuable participant so your followers don’t think you are only there to market your products. People will also start to look to you as an authority if you are always helpfully answering their questions. The more you mix up with the people around, the better will be the trust factor. Your reputation as someone who is a good source of information will spread to more Twitter members. Your profile can then gain momentum by word of mouth. Twitter has so many ways that it can help with your online business. One of the best ways to leverage Twitter for enhancing your business and marketing with it is to use it for customer service. It’s a smart way to assist your customers with whatever they need while never having to utilize the phone. The reason for this is many problems are small and require little attention, so Twitter can be used to address these problems and a viable solution can be given to the customer. Then, if the problem requires more attention, you can always use the phone for those communications. But at first it’s completely acceptable to use Twitter to see if you can handle the problem that way. Plus, the bond you’ll be building with your customers will become stronger and you will see that they will come to respect your trustworthiness. Your customers want to feel valued and special and that’s just how they’ll feel if you can answer them quickly using something like Twitter.
Automate your Twitter marketing process to an extent by using desktop tools that will help you keep up with your target audience. TweetDeck is excellent for keeping track of what’s popular and managing your targeted keywords. You’d be able to know where your product is being mentioned in the Twitter stream so that you can get in touch with new people and add more subscribers. Software is good but only if it meets your needs, so do your research first. Look around and see what you can find. If you are looking to build a list very fast or a large group of followers to sell to then Twitter is definitely the answer. Remember, the clearer you are about your marketing objective, the better it is.
